What Makes Us Denver's Movers of Choice

From Capitol Hill walk-ups to Cherry Creek high-rises, here's what our customers count on every time they book a move with us.

Our Expert Team

Every crew member is a full-time employee, never a subcontractor. Our Denver movers are trained for Denver’s specific moving challenges, such as narrow downtown loading docks, steep Capitol Hill stairwells, and HOA-restricted buildings across the metro. Whether it’s a residential move or a commercial relocation, you get the same trained crew from start to finish.

Licensed & Fully Insured

We’re a locally owned Denver moving company registered with the US DOT and Colorado’s PUC, not a franchise that hands your move off to a random subcontractor. Full insurance coverage means any damage gets replaced promptly, and because we’re based right here in the city, you can walk into our office if you ever need to.

Straightforward Rates

Every move starts with a detailed written quote that breaks down labor, travel time, and any specialty services, such as piano moving or packing. No hidden fees, no rate changes on moving day, the number we quote is the number you pay.

Excellence in Motion: Denver Movers with 20+ Years of Experience

Efficiency Unveiled: How Denver's Movers Get It Done

The methodical steps our Denver movers follow on every single move.

Free In-Home or Virtual Estimate

We start with a free consultation, in person or over video, to walk through what’s moving, including bulky items and any building-specific challenges like elevator reservations or street parking permits. This is also when we scope out whether you need local moving support only or help with long-distance moving if you’re relocating outside the metro.

Confirm Your Written, Not-to-Exceed Quote

You’ll get an itemized quote with a firm “not-to-exceed” total, plus insurance options so you know exactly what’s covered. If you only need muscle and a truck, we also offer labor-only service at a lower rate. We’ll walk you through which option fits your move and budget.

Moving Day, Handled Start to Finish

Our crew arrives on schedule, protects your floors, walls, and railings, and carefully loads, transports, and unloads everything at your new address. Need help with items that need extra care? Our specialty moving team can handle that too.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Abe Lincoln Movers fully licensed and insured?

Arrow Down

Yes! Abe Lincoln Movers is a fully licensed and insured professional moving company. We strictly adhere to Colorado state transportation mandates and federal moving regulations. Our insurance coverage applies directly to your household items and commercial property A copy of our Certificate of Insurance (COI) is always available upon request for residential or commercial property managers.

How far in advance should I book my move?

Arrow Down

Booking your move at least 4-6 weeks in advance is ideal, especially during peak moving seasons such as summer. Early booking ensures you secure your preferred date and time. Last-minute bookings can sometimes be accosted, but availability may be limited. Early planning allows tie for proper preparation, such as packing and decluttering.

Do I need to tip the movers?

Arrow Down

Tipping is never mandatory, but it is highly encouraged if you feel our crew provided exceptional, hardworking, and friendly service. If you choose to tip, a standard benchmark is 10% to 20% of the total move cost, distributed among the crew, or a flat $20 to $50 per mover for a full day of heavy labor.

How are local moving rates calculated, and when does the time start?

Arrow Down

For local moves within the Denver Metro Area, our pricing is based on a straightforward hourly rate that depends on the crew size (e.g., 2, 3, or 4 movers) and the number of trucks required. In alignment with standard industry practices, the billable time typically includes “drive time” or travel time between our dispatch office, your original location, and your final destination. We outline this entirely upfront so there are no surprises.

Are there hidden fees, truck fees, or fuel surcharges?

Arrow Down

Absolutely not. We strictly abide by the “Abe Lincoln Standard” of total honesty. We do not use bait-and-switch tactics or surprise you on moving day with hidden fuel surcharges, stairs fees, heavy item penalties, or extra truck rental fees. The hourly rate or flat long-distance quote you sign is exactly what you pay.

Do I have to pack everything myself, or can you handle it?

Arrow Down

We offer flexible packing solutions tailored entirely to your needs! You can choose our full-service packing program—where our organized, efficient crew steps in with heavy-duty double-walled boxes, custom wardrobe containers, and fragile glass partition packs to securely wrap and label your entire home. Alternatively, we offer partial packing services for targeted fragile areas (like kitchens or artwork), or simple loading and unloading support if you prefer a DIY packing approach.

Can your moving teams handle heavy, fragile, or specialty items?

Arrow Down

Yes, we are elite specialty moving experts. Our crews are trained to lift, navigate, and transport high-weight, fragile items that average moving labor companies can’t handle. We routinely move grand pianos, spinets, heavy gun safes, commercial refrigerators, and backyard hot tubs. We use floor runners, furniture pads, and professional rigging equipment to protect both your home and the items being moved.

How do your long-distance and out-of-state moves work?

Arrow Down

Unlike national van lines that pool multiple families’ shipments into a single truck—resulting in delayed delivery windows and mixed-up boxes—we provide a dedicated truckload for your long-distance relocation. The same crew that wraps and loads your items in Colorado drives the truck and unloads them directly at your home out of state. This single-load chain of custody guarantees exceptional security and definitive, locked-in delivery dates.

What happens if it snows on my scheduled moving day?

Arrow Down

We are native Colorado residents, which means our crews are fully prepared to handle seasonal snow and winter weather shifts safely! Our trucks are equipped to handle winter road conditions, and our movers lay down protective floor runners, plastic shield overlays, and drop cloths to keep your old and new homes clean and dry. In cases of extreme, state-declared blizzard emergencies or dangerous road closures, we will work with you to safely reschedule your move to the next immediate opening at zero penalty.

Can your trucks handle steep mountain driveways or tight Denver high-rise loading docks?

Arrow Down

Yes! Our professional drivers have extensive experience navigating high-altitude mountain terrain (such as the Evergreen and Boulder foothills) as well as tight urban loading docks throughout downtown Denver, Cherry Creek, and high-rise apartment complexes. We coordinate directly with building property managers on freight elevator constraints and use optimized ramp systems and staging strategies to manage steep inclines safely.

What should I do to prepare for moving day?

Arrow Down

To prepare for moving day, start by decluttering and clearly labeling all boxes. Ensure all pathways are clear and secure any parking spots the night before. Disconnect and secure electronics, appliances, and utilities. Prepare a box of essentials such as toiletries, clothing, and important documents, for easy access on your first day at your new home. Secure any other pertinent items, such as medications, heirlooms, and other high-value items. Finally, confirm the moving schedule and any specific instructions with the movers to avoid last-minute surprises.

How long does a local move usually take?

Arrow Down

The duration of a local move depends on several factors, including the size of your home, the distance between locations, and the level of packing preparation. Additional services like last-minute packing, disassembling beds, or disconnecting appliances can add time. Weather conditions, traffic, and property accessibility can also influence timing. Discuss any details of your specific move to get a more accurate estimate.

Can you load or unload our rental truck and/or on-site storage container?

Arrow Down

Yes, we are experienced in safely moving and securing items through our labor-only services. We arrive on-site with our professional equipment and tools. Discuss the best options for wrapping furniture to prevent damage when booking.

What types of insurance will I be offered?

Arrow Down

Movers generally provide three types of protection for your goods in case they are lost or damaged: limited liability, depreciation valuation, and full value.

Limited Liability:
This is the basic coverage required by law, and it costs the consumer nothing. Under limited liability, the mover is responsible for sixty cents ($.60) per pound per item for the move.

Depreciation Valuation:
This type allows you to collect the amount based on the item’s current replacement value, minus depreciation. The amount you pay for this coverage depends on how much you declare your goods are worth.

Full Value:
Tis insurance costs the most and covers the actual cost of an item’s replacement or repair, without any deduction for depreciation. Before purchasing coverage from the moving company, you may want to check your homeowners’ insurance policy to see whether it covers your belongings during the move.

How far in advance should I book my Denver move?

Arrow Down

Peak moving season in the Denver metro area runs from May through September, as well as during the first and last days of any month. For summer or weekend moves, we recommend booking 3 to 4 weeks in advance. For mid-month or fall/winter moves, 1 to 2 weeks notice is usually sufficient. We also accommodate last-minute bookings whenever schedule permits.

Do you move heavy or specialty items like pianos or gun safes?

Arrow Down

Yes. Our specialty moving and piano moving teams are trained and equipped with specialized dollies, hoisting straps, and protective padding to transport upright pianos, baby grands, gun safes, and heavy antiques safely without damaging your floors or stairways.

What is included in your packing services?

Arrow Down

Our packing solutions can be tailored to your needs, whether you want full-home packing or help with fragile items only (such as kitchen glassware, china, artwork, and electronics). We supply box materials, bubble wrap, packing paper, and tape, and clearly label every box by room for seamless unpacking.

Are there additional charges for stairs, elevators, or long carries?

Arrow Down

No hidden surcharges are added on moving day. Access factors such as stair flights, elevator usage, or long walking distances from the truck loading area are reviewed during your initial estimate and factored into your written quote upfront.

Which cities outside of Denver do your local movers cover?

Arrow Down

In addition to neighborhoods across Denver (such as Downtown, Cherry Creek, Baker, Cole, and Capitol Hill), our local moving services extend to the entire surrounding metro area, including Westminster, Centennial, Arvada, Lakewood, Thornton, Highlands Ranch, Littleton, Aurora, and Boulder.

How does payment work once the move is complete?

Arrow Down

Payment is due at the end of the move after all items have been unloaded and placed in your new location. We accept major credit cards, debit cards, and cash. Your lead mover will review the finalized time log and summary with you before collecting payment.
